Dr. Kavita Bhatnagar

Hi! I am Dr. Kavita Bhatnagar, a Harvard alumna, a Fellow and a Council member of the British Society of Flavourists. I am a Food Technologist, Nutritionist, a triple postgraduate and hold a PhD in Eating Behaviours. For the past twenty years, I have been working at the intersection of Food Technology, Taste Science, Nutrition and Eating Behaviour Psychology. Through my work as a Flavourist and as CEO at Kanegrade India- a taste management company; I had one enduring takeaway. It is a taste that fundamentally controls our nutritional choices and our taste buds are vital gatekeepers of our health. These gatekeepers can be trained to our benefit.
Equally passionate about academic research, I contribute by reviewing papers for top international journals focused on Appetite and Eating Behaviors. Additionally, as the Editor of The New Flavourists, a publication of international repute, I remain at the forefront of developments in these fields. Though my education in nutrition and dietetics gave me a strong foundation on food’s impact on our bodies and our lives, it was my PhD that opened new frontiers to explore the emotional and behavioural ties we have with food, enriching my work with a compassionate outlook.
With extensive expertise in Product Development, R&D, Sales, and Marketing, I understand that numerous forces influence our food choices and behaviours. By gaining a deeper understanding of these factors, we can reclaim control over our eating habits and, ultimately - Our Lives.
